Sonia and I have become obsessed with numbers! The numbers of views of our videos on YouTube (Today 15/3 13,815), the cumulative number of unique visitors to our site (4369), the counter for C2G friends - those who have donated- currently a quite traumatisingly low 413 (only 999,597 to go), the average amount of time spent on the site (a very healthy 5.05 minutes), number of Fans on our Facebook page (196 and rising) and number of followers of this blog (thank you to my 2 loyal Followers).
I really did think that getting to the launch was the biggest hurdle and then our workload would slow down to a more manageable pace. Maybe have some time for dating -or even sleeping would be good. How disillusioned I was! Here's a run down of what we've been doing in the first week since launch
Day 1, Thursday 4 March Last night was a soft launch as advertising and PR doesn't start till Monday 8/3. Instead of a leisurely sleep in, I was woken at 6.30 am with phone calls from everyone I know (and some I only partially know) with functionality problems on the site, donations not going through properly, confusion with the mobile donation platform, Download links not working etc etc etc. The whole day was spent fielding queries and working with tirelessly patient and terribly overworked Geekies to get the site humming like a well oiled machine. C2G Friends counter.... 79.
Day 2, Friday 5 March Geekies have now linked us into Google Analytics, which enables us to see the numbers behind the site. We can even tell whether people from different countries are viewing us. But not much time to look at the numbers, cause most of the day was spent sending out video links and press packs to the TV networks and major media platforms. Sonia is racing around gathering together TV ads in the different formats, getting approvals and getting them across to the TV networks in time for going on air on Monday. Then we spent the afternoon filming Gyton Grantley and Danny Clayton doing videos - brilliant fun and just so heartwarming to see how committed and concerned they are about this campaign. C2G Friends counter.... 102
Day 3, Saturday 6 March Wrote press pack for journalists - which will be sent out on Monday to our database of about 150 journos. Set up our C2G Facebook page and YouTube Brand channel. Wrote structure and copy for The Travelling Anthem, the new section on the site to be launched next week. Friends counter.... 123
Day 3, Sunday 7 March Wrote press release for the marketing industry. Wrote the Schools Media Kit for downloading by schools (sits in the schools page). Wrote the outline script (with Gerry) for the Schools video. Invited 45 friends to C2G through the Heroes programme (very excited to now be on the Wall of Fame). And then slept!
Day 4, Monday 8 March Today is media day. Sent out all the press packs then spent the rest of the day on the telephone talking high profile groups (like TV Casts, NRL teams, Corporates) to particulate in our Travelling Anthem. The travelling anthem is about taking the cause out to Australia... getting everyone to make their own mini music video of the C2G song. We're going to film about 15, but we're also going to encourage the public to submit their own version on the song. Friends counter.... 141
Day 5, Tuesday 9 March So tired today, didn't want to get out of bed. Highlight of the Day - we were on the HomePage of YouTube today. Had 4500 views. Friends counter.... 143
Day 6, Wednesday 10 March Energy back - but why are no journalists breaking down our door to write articles about us??? Today we sent out an email to all High Schools in Australia - encouraging them to participate in C2G. We also filmed our 1st Travelling Anthem - with 100 Vodafone Retail Managers. Because this was our first, we were not sure exactly how it would work but within 10 minutes everyone was totally into it. Justice, the hip hop dance crew came along with us and were loved by all... as always. YouTube views 5200. Facebook Fans 100. Friends Counter.... 163
Day 7, Thursday 11 March Getting a tiny bit freaked out that our Friends counter is so low. Trying to getting a couple of the NRL teams signed up to do the Travelling Anthem, but with their first game of the session just days away, they're now clearly screening my calls. Only upside, I now watch the sports news - first for me - just so I can seem to know what I'm talking about when I'm on the phone to the various CEO's. YouTube views 7023. Facebook Fans 118. Friends Counter.... 171
Day 8, Friday 12 March - What a delight today was. We were in at Macquarie Bank filming a group of them, including their Chief Economist, doing the Travelling Anthem. They were fantastic, bopping away to the music in the foyer in front of their building. Who would have thought that bankers had so much rythem or fun in them!!!? Our film crew was then sitting having a coffee in the cafe next door to Macquarie, when we noticed the two gorgeous Baristas grooving away at the espresso machine. A quick word to the owner and the manager and next thing, Bruno and Cruise were in front of our mic doing a rap for us. All of the travelling anthems will be either in the Green Room (access only for C2G heroes - so go invite 10 friends please) and the Travelling Anthem section (due to go live tonight... hopefully). Huge Week In bed by 8pm!
YouTube views 9484. Facebook Fans 148. Friends Counter.... 174 (its enough to give me heart failure, this is going up so slow!!)
